At Broadway, we feel it is important to empower our parents to be an active part of the ministry to their youth. The job of a youth minister or staff member is to enhance the spiritual work done in the home… and in some cases, also to help create a spiritual atmosphere in the home.

We believe that our youth live in a broken world, a world that sin has corrupted. Our desire is to raise and empower a new generation of youth that can have an impact on that broken world… a group of young men and women who can step out with confidence and let the love of Christ shine through the overflow of the Spirit in their own lives.

With this in mind, our Family/Youth Minister families are very involved in the planning of activities and weekly worship with our teens. It’s no surprise to see almost as many adults as there are youth at one of our youth group events.

Family/Youth Minister

Matthew was born in the foothills of North Carolina into a non-religious home. At 15, after being invited to church by the preacher’s daughter, he was baptized and later entered ministry school at age 20. Since then he has served as a missionary in Brazil, Mexico, and the Philippines. He has also served numerous congregations as pulpit preacher. Contrary to popular belief, he never attended AIM, but he will complete Sunset’s Master’s Program in December.

Matthew and Melanie (of Houston) married on July 26, 2016. Since then they have adopted one beautiful pup adding to the one Melanie inherited upon their marriage. Their names are Roman and Socrates. In his free time Matthew enjoys reading fiction, yoga, and writing for his website.

Larinda Creel is originally from Amarillo, TX. She met and married her husband while attending LCU. They have been married 21 years and have 5 pretty amazing kids. She has a degree in Social Work and used that degree for about 10 years at a couple of different children’s homes. Larinda and her family spent about 7 years in Montana before coming back down to Lubbock.
Larinda loves spending time with her kids and their small farm containing sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, cats, dogs and one turtle. She also loves spending time with your kids and letting them encourage and teach her. She thinks their parents are awesome, too.
