WORSHIP MINISTRY

worship icon colorWhen the apostle Paul wrote to the church in Rome, he said, “I urge you brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-this is your spiritual act of worship” (Rom 12:1).  Worship is not just something that takes place once or twice a week in the confines of an air conditioned building in the company of fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.  Worship is life, and as Christians, we have given our lives to God.  As a result, our worship centers on God, not us.  Here at Broadway Church of Christ, we urge you to follow Paul’s advice by offering your bodies daily to the service of God.

We also realize that there is something special that takes place when the people of God gather on a weekly basis.  Broadway Church of Christ seeks to honor God and one another in our corporate worship experiences.  To this end, we make it our goal to offer a time of worship each week that both recognizes the authority of scripture and honors our heritage in Churches of Christ.

A Call to WorshipIf you decide to worship with us, there are some things you may witness.  The first thing many people notice is our lack of instruments.  As part of our desire to honor our a cappella heritage in Churches of Christ, our corporate worship assembly on Sunday morning does not utilize instrumentation.  We hope you are blessed by this unique aspect of our heritage.

You might also see dramatic presentations, personal testimonials, special songs by groups or individuals, or even special dramatized readings of scripture.  Most of the time, you will see these things through video recordings, but occasionally, you may witness them live as well.  The fact is, we believe video is a tremendous avenue to communicate the message of the gospel; therefore, we attempt to tap this rich resource for God’s glory.  These efforts are meant to make the gospel come to life in our world.  You may notice that some of these videos incorporate the use of instrumental background music.  Even though we recognize the power of this medium in video presentations, we will maintain our practice of a cappella music during congregational singing.

Because we believe in the power of the gospel to transform lives, most of our corporate worship assemblies will include a time wherein an individual can respond to the message.  If you arrive at our assembly and need the prayers of the body of Christ, know that you will have the opportunity to speak privately to one of our shepherds or relay your concern to a minister to be announced and prayed over publicly. You may also use that opportunity to give your life to Jesus Christ through baptism. The most important thing for us is that you find a way to enrich or even begin your relationship with the Creator.  Our hope and prayer is that our worship to God at Broadway Church of Christ will help you on your journey toward that goal.
